Instead of field trip

Visiting Bucharest – walking tour in the city centre

Bucharest is a nice city, called "The little Paris". Bucharest is located in the Southern Romania. It is the biggest city of the country, with almost 2 million inhabitants (2012). It has an elegant architecture built in the period between the two World Wars. Also inside the city we can see a natural area, the Natural Park Văcărești.

Unfortunately, we cannot organize a field trip, as we planned initially. But if you want to visit Romania in the future, here is the route we would have traveled together.

Travel from Bucharest to Curtea de Arges, where one could visit the Princely Court, one could also discover the ruins of the court of Basarab I and of Neagoe Basarab, and explore the wall ruins of the oldest church inside the Princely Court. Continue on the "Transfăgărășan" road and reach the Bâlea Resort (Fagaras Mts). Travel to the city of Sibiu. From here several options are available: Rosia Montana (point of interest: the Roman mining galleries); Turda (point of interest the Turda Salt Mine). For the way back from Sibiu to Bucharest one could choose an alternative route and visit the Horezu Monastery, the most symbolic work of Constantin Brâncoveanu during his reign of Wallachia, now a UNESCO historical monument. The journey will end in Bucharest.
